Development

We rehearse an hour before the service on a Sunday, which is a focussed time to go through and prepare the songs and band arrangements for the service. This time needs to be focussed and clear of distractions. All who are involved need to have a skill level and etiquette that will enable us to be efficient with the little time we have.

We also run a number of monthly training sessions and practices to encourage improvement and movement of new musicians into the team. These training and practice sessions are specific times where you can experiment and challenge your skills by trying new things in a safe relaxed place. Because there are limited services and sometimes a surplus of musicians and singers, you may find you are only singing or playing once a month, so coming to these sessions will give you a chance to play or sing and keep your skills oiled!

Here are the sessions we will be running! The sessions are free but take a lot of time and effort to run so it is always appreciated when people show their support for these events. It is first and foremost for the sake of equipping the ministry of Orpington Baptist Church and honouring the responsibility God has laid upon all who serve in this capacity. We like to encourage multi skilling, so if you have interest in another instrument, sound, or singing, it is always good to take advantage of learning! Remember, you are to practice and seek your own private tuition, and for parents of teenagers involved in the band, please encourage them to practice and self resource to improve.
